Steuben Council on Addictions provides the general public with relevant substance abuse information through community events, advertising, and publicity. The program also visits schools and adult community groups to help participants build knowledge and skills for substance abuse prevention. There is a wide range of courses to choose from and custom workshops are also available. We educate on a range of topics including, but not limited to:
- Life Skills
- Bullying Prevention
- Self-esteem
- Active Parenting
The Steuben Council on Addictions is funded through the NYS Office of Addiction Services And Supports, Steuben County Youth Bureau and the United Way of the Southern Tier.

Impact
As a result of Steuben Council on Addictions’ science and research-based education and programming:
- 85% of adult participants have increased awareness and knowledge about alcohol, drug, and other substance use issues.
- 85% of youth enrolled report engaging in positive decision making that leads to improved, responsible, and healthy behaviors especially in the targeted areas of: substance use/abuse, sexual activity, bullying, and criminal behavior.
- Prevention Education programs took place in 10 of 13 school districts in Steuben County.
- 25% of adults have abided by treatment plans and have adjusted their lifestyles to support sobriety.
