Bath Area Hope for Youth
The Bath Area
Hope for Youth’s Prevention counseling program
is licensed by New York State to provide individual
and group counseling services. We provide these counseling
services through the schools at no cost to the client.
By providing prevention counseling services in the schools,
we are able to positively impact youth and their families
in a way that would not be possible otherwise. Prevention
Counseling allows us to intervene with “at risk”
youths before they develop destructive behaviors in
order to cope with life’s problems.
School and Community Prevention Counseling
Bath Hope’s counseling program is our most extensive
intervention and prevention program. Once clients are
assessed for program appropriateness, counseling may
last anywhere from one month to one year depending on
their particular needs. In some cases, clients may also
be referred to another agency or clinician when a more
intensive or different type of service is indicated.
While most counseling services take place at the school
site, we do provide counseling, assessment and referral
services at our Bath Hope office, as needed. In either
case, counseling takes place in a confidential, private
setting and is provided to clients at no cost.
Prevention Education Services
Bath Area Hope for Youth offers to school districts
and communities comprehensive programs, which are designed
to meet the specific needs of all Steuben County residents
relating to alcohol, tobacco, violence and drug prevention
and intervention. We are dedicated to assisting our
community in choosing healthy safe and drug free alternatives
through science and research-based educational programs.
Substance Abuse Assessments and Referrals
Bath Area Hope for Youth offers science and researched-based
referral services, to help determine whether you may
have a need for further assessment or substance abuse
treatment services. These assessments provided in a
confidential and private setting and are provided at
no cost.
Adventure Education Program-Ropes Course
The Adventure Education program is modeled after Project
Adventure, Inc. It takes students through innovative
warm-ups, trust building exercises, initiative problems
and low and high ropes course elements. It has been
shown to significantly reduce delinquent behavior, alcohol
use and abuse, physical complaints, negative excitement
and sensation seeking. This program is designed for
school-aged through adulthood. This program is conducted
at the Mossy Bank Park in Bath, New York, but also can
be used in a school or business setting.
John B. Southard Summer Recreation
Bath Hope in conjunction with the Village of Bath Recreation
Commission and the Office of Children and Family Services,
provides an array of activities for youth ages 5-18
through out the year. The recreation program engages
youth in physical, artistic, and mental/social interaction
as well as providing a means for drug free activities.
